The plan engine
The plan engine lays a whole storey of flats from a few choices: the plate, the scheme, the core and the mix. It is the same engine behind the Lay out drawer, the street of flats and the catalogue.
What it lays
A double-loaded slab, a single-loaded bar, a point block, an L, T, U, Z or courtyard block, a stepped or bent slab: the engine places the corridor, the cores with their protected lobbies, the flats on both sides and the ground floor use, and keeps the walk from every front door to its stair within the code.
Codes it plans under include the UK Approved Documents, the US IBC, the Saudi Building Code and the Dubai rules (door ratings, dead ends, corridor widths, parapets).
Units every copy follows
Draw a flat by hand and save it as a unit. The engine lays it at its own frontage along the corridor, with its party walls drawn once and its front door where you hung it. Edit one copy and every copy follows, with their ids kept.
Try it
The flats models on the models page are all laid by this engine; open one and change it.
