What Calq is
Calq is a BIM modeller and drafting board in the browser. You model the building once, and every plan, section, elevation, schedule and sheet is drawn from that model, so they agree with each other.
One model, every drawing
Every element in Calq is a building element with an IFC class, not a line that looks like one. A wall knows its height, its build-up and the openings in it; a room knows its area and its number. The views read that model: change a wall and the plan, the section, the elevation, the schedule and the sheet that holds them all move with it.
The drawings follow drafting conventions rather than a renderer: a scale belongs to the view, dimensions are laid out in strings at that scale, and a sheet carries an ISO 7200 title block and an ISO 19650 name.
Start without an account
Open calq.live and you are on the board, with a blank sheet and a structural grid. The drawing is kept in the browser, so a reload or a closed tab keeps it; saving makes a free account and puts it in the cloud.
Pressing Save makes a free account and uploads the drawing as its first model. The free account keeps 3 projects with up to 10 models each in the cloud, imports IFC and CAD, and exports IFC, DXF, COBie, gbXML, PDF sheet sets and MP4. Pro starts with a 14-day trial: Calq AI and 1,200 AI credits, nothing charged until it ends.
Where it runs
Any current browser with WebGL 2, on Windows, macOS, Linux and ChromeOS. On a phone or a tablet the board shows one view at a time and pinch zooms the 2D views; the 3D grips and push-pull still want a mouse.
What is coming
Two paid plans are announced and not on sale yet. Starter adds the AI design tools that run on Calq (floor plan, facade, concept and massing options, a plan, photo or survey image read into a model, AI renders, select by words) and 6,000 AI credits a month. Pro adds Calq AI, an agent that draws on the board with the same tools a person uses, every tool at the assistant door, and the Revit add-in for two-way sync with Revit 2021 to 2027.
Questions
- Is Calq free?
- Free to draw: open calq.live and draw, with no account. Saving makes a free account with cloud save, 3 projects with up to 10 models each, that imports IFC, DWG and DXF and exports IFC, DXF, COBie, gbXML, PDF sheet sets and video. The AI tools that run on Calq are on the paid plans, Starter and Pro, which are not on sale yet. Pro starts with a 14-day trial; nothing is charged until it ends.
- Do I need to install anything?
- No. Calq runs in a current browser with WebGL 2, on Windows, macOS, Linux and ChromeOS. Phones and tablets work too, one view at a time.
- Can I get IFC out of Calq?
- Yes, on every plan, Free included: IFC4 Reference View by default, IFC 4.3 on request, and IFC2X3 Coordination View 2.0. The writer is checked against the official EXPRESS schema before every release. COBie 2.4, gbXML 0.37 and DXF plans are on the same export menu. A free account imports IFC as well.
- Does Calq work with Revit?
- Today through IFC and DXF, exported on every plan, Free included. A Revit add-in for Revit 2021 to 2027 with two-way sync (elements, views and parameters) is in development for the Pro plan; its download is not open yet.
- What is Calq AI?
- An agent inside the board that draws with the same tools a person uses: walls, openings, rooms, a floor of flats, a facade, the ground. It comes with Pro, and the 14-day Pro trial tries it with 1,200 AI credits (about three full builds).
- Is my model used to train AI?
- No. Your projects are not training data.
