Doors, windows and curtain walls

Host a door and windows in walls, then close the shopfront with a curtain wall.

You will put a door in the shop's east wall and three windows in its north wall, and make its south side a glazed shopfront.

01A door

Choose Door (DR) in the Walls toolset. The cursor line sets its width W, its height H, its hand, which way it swings and its type. Click a wall to host it: the door cuts its opening and is numbered (D01). Space flips it before you click, and a distance typed places it that far from the end of the wall.

02Windows

Choose Window (WN): its width, height and sill height are on the cursor line. Click the wall at each place a window goes. Each is numbered (W01, W02, W03), and the plan writes the distances between them.

Three windows clicked into the north wall.

03A curtain wall

Choose Curtain and click the two ends of its run: here the south side of the shop, corner to corner, a shopfront. The cursor line sets its system, its module, its transoms and its frame (aluminium mullions, 60 x 150). A curtain wall bounds rooms and joins other walls like any wall.

04The openings in 3D

In 3D the door, the windows and the glazed shopfront stand in their walls. Select any of them to change its size, its type or its sill in Properties.
