Issues as BCF

Raise an issue on the elements and the view it is about, give it a status and a thread, and exchange issues with other tools as BCF.

On the sample house, you will raise an issue on an element from the 3D view, fill it in and find where it goes out as BCF.

BCF (the BIM Collaboration Format of buildingSMART) carries issues between tools. Each issue keeps its view, the elements it is about by their IFC GlobalId, its status and its thread. The issues are kept in the model.

01An issue from the view

In the 3D view, select what the issue is about: here one element of the first floor, drawn in red. Open Issues (BCF) from the Data menu and press Issue from this view: the issue is raised on the selected element, with the camera and a picture of the view.

Click the issue's view later and the 3D flies back to it, with its elements selected.

02Fill it in

Give the issue a title, a status (Open, In Progress, Resolved or Closed), a priority, a type and who it is for, then say what is wrong and what is asked in its description. Each comment typed under Thread is added with its author and date.

This view adds another view to the issue. The list above shows the open issues, or all of them.

03Exchange as BCF

The BCF tab writes every issue as a BCF 2.1 or 3.0 file, to open in Revit, ArchiCAD, Solibri or BIMcollab. Read a .bcfzip reads the issues another tool wrote: they are added, and the ones already here are updated.

BCF exchange: write the issues, or read a .bcfzip.
