Learn Calq: a building from A to Z / Part 12 Working together

Live together: cursors, selections and comments

Work in one model at the same time as others: see where they point and what they select, and leave comments pinned to the model.

You will see how people on one saved model see each other at work, try the selection they share, and see how a comment is pinned, addressed and resolved.

01One model, every board

When people on a model open it at the same time, their boards meet in the model's room on Calq's servers. Every change goes through it, so each board shows the same model a moment later, and each person's role is checked on the way.

Beside Share, the strip shows the people on the model now as initials, each in a pen of its own; while Calq AI works on the model it shows among them. A person alone on a model sees no one.

Two boards on one model: each person's pointer and selection drawn in the other's views, in their own pen.

02A selection is the same in every view

Open the sample house and split the board into two panes (Split, then Two side by side): the plan on the left, the 3D on the right, framed by its own Fit. Click the south wall on the plan, then the east wall: each is selected in the 3D too. A selection belongs to the model, not to a view.

That is what the others see: on a shared model your pointer and your selection go out from whichever view you work in, and are drawn in every view of theirs (a plan, the 3D, a section) in your pen.

A wall selected on the plan, and the same wall selected in the 3D.

03Comments

Comments, beside Share, opens the model's comments beside the board: one set of threads per model, seen by everyone on it.

  1. Pin to the selection ties a new comment to the element selected, and the pin follows it. Pin to a point ties it to a point you click on a plan or in the 3D.
  2. An @ names someone on the model, and Calq emails them. Ctrl+Enter sends.
  3. Reply answers under a comment. Resolve closes the whole thread and Reopen opens it again; Show it takes the board to its pin.

Calq AI reads and writes the same threads, and so does an assistant you connect to Calq (Part 13). Someone holding the model's link as a Commenter comments too, once signed in.
