Learn Calq: a building from A to Z / Part 12 Working together
Saving and the model's history
Undo and redo on the board, and the history a saved model keeps: every version, to restore, to name or to keep as an option.
You will undo and redo a change on the board, then see what the history of a saved model keeps and what a version offers.
01Undo and redo
Draw a room of four walls (W A, as in Part 0), select one wall and press Delete. The two arrows at the right of the bottom row are Undo and Redo (Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Shift+Z): Undo brings the wall back, Redo takes it out again.
Undo and redo belong to your board. A saved model is also saved as you work, and the stamp in the strip says when: there is no file to keep and no button to remember.
02The history of a saved model
History, beside Comments, opens every version of the model its room kept, newest first, each with who changed the model since the version before and how much. From a version:
- Restore carries the model back to it, on every open board. The model as it stood is kept in the list, so a restore is undone from the same list.
- Keep as an option makes the version a design option (Part 4), drawn against the model on a plan in two pens.
- Name this version gives it a name, such as Issued for planning. A named version is never thinned away.
Everyone on the model reads its history; restoring and naming need a role that may change the model, and a restore meets the same role rules as any other change. How far back the history reaches depends on the owner's plan, on calq.live/pricing.
