Learn Calq: a building from A to Z / Part 10 Checks and data
Quantities and schedules
Read every element of the model as schedules and a quantity takeoff, pick elements from their rows and take it all out as CSV.
On the sample house, you will read the door schedule, pick a door from its row, read the takeoff and the areas by IPMS, and see where the types and the export are.
Areas are measured by the area standard set in Standards (here IPMS: All Buildings), and each element carries its Uniclass 2015 code. Everything in the drawer is read from the model as it stands: draw a wall and its row is there.
01The schedules
Open Schedules & takeoff from the Data menu. Its Elements tab holds one schedule for each kind of element in the model, with its count: walls, floors, roofs, stairs, spaces, doors, windows, openings, furniture and landscape.
Choose Doors: each door is a row with its mark, its type, its width and height and its Uniclass code. Click a row: the door is selected in every view. Shift adds rows to the selection; the grouping list sorts the rows into groups, and CSV takes the schedule out.
02The quantity takeoff
The Quantities tab opens on the Quantity takeoff: a line for each kind, with its count and its quantity. Walls are measured in metres of length, floors, roofs and spaces in square metres.
A line stands for every element of its kind: click Windows and the house's 11 windows are selected in every view at once.
03Areas by IPMS
Below the takeoff, Areas by IPMS gives each storey's IPMS 1 and IPMS 2 areas and the components measured out of them (vertical penetrations, structural elements, technical services, hygiene areas), with the total for the building. Room finishes follow: each room's walls, floor, ceiling and the lengths of its skirting, rails and cornice.

04Types and the export
The Types tab schedules the model's types, each with its kind, how many elements carry it, its thickness, its U-value, its fire resistance and its layers; the rows of the windows still selected are lit. Export all, at the head of the drawer, takes the takeoff and every schedule out as one CSV, to open in a spreadsheet.
